My love for gardening comes at the intersection of food accessibility and strengthening native biodiversity. My two seasons working at the Harriet Irving Botanical Gardens in Wolfville, NS deepened my knowledge and appreciation for native plants, as the 6-acre gardens and habitat demonstration areas showcase plants native to the Wabanaki (Acadian) forest region in both manicured and natural environments. I'm an advocate for putting native flowers and shrubs in our residential gardens and reducing the prevalence of invasive species in our natural areas. I'm adept in garden installation and maintenance, having worked in Candace Mallette Garden Design's crew, and through working on various personal and community projects.

Mi'kmaw Native Friendship Centre
In collaboration with colleagues at the Mi'kmaw Native Friendship Centre and the team at OSO planning + design, I led the planting of this garden at the Friendship Centre for staff and clients to enjoy. It includes medicines such as tobacco, cedar, and sweetgrass, and native food sources like blueberry and huckleberry.

Flaxmobile Project
The Flaxmobile Project aims to close the material security gap across Nova Scotia through supporting farmers and craftspeople in cultivating fibre flax. I worked with Jennifer Green throughout 2022 and 2023 to grow flax in Ross Creek's organic garden. Through traditional processing techniques, we extracted the flax fibres that handpsinners and local artists used to create textile pieces during an artist residency at Ross Creek.
